Our Pastor
Woman of God, dedicated community leader, motivational speaker, professional singer, teacher, and community liaison has always been known for her character, passion, and dedication to service. A native of Tunica County, MS, born sixth child to the late Mr. R.L. Windum and L. B. Windum, she has soared in her educational, professional and singing careers. After graduating from Rosa Fort High School in 1970, she secured a degree in Business Administration with a focus in Management from Draughon’s College in Memphis, TN. Pastor Hubbard is a faithful servant and has a passion for God and His people. She accepted her calling from God into the preaching and teaching ministry in 1998 and was licensed and ordained in August 1999. God elevated her to Pastoral Ministry in October 2003 and was officially installed as Pastor of Commerce Boulevard Christian Church (CBCC) in February 2004, making history in North Mississippi as the first Female Senior Pastor. Pastor’s professional career began soon after graduating college where she obtained a position with the Internal Revenue Service in 1974. This successful career spanned over 30 years, retiring in 2005 as a Labor Relations Specialist and relocating back to Tunica in 2008 to be closer to her love, her heart… her church congregation, CBCC. She was a lead singer, for more than 10 years, with recording artist, Keenan Shotwell and the Voices for Christ Ministries. She is the Lead Advisor for the Tunica Gospel Choir that was originated in September 2010. She has appeared on several television and radio shows with Grammy Award winner country Music Legend, Marty Stuart from Nashville, TN. Pastor received the 2013 Woman of the Year award for Tunica County for the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi. In April of 2014, she was nominated for the Governor's Initiative for Volunteer Excellence Award. She was married to the late Deacon Edward Hubbard on September 21, 1991. She is the mother of Lashunda Horton; and grandmother of four – Alex, Kenya, Kanaudria, and Kayla, and great-grandmother of Khloe. She was instrumental in co-founding the Tunica 10-Point Coalition organization, where she is currently Executive Director. In addition to this organization, which provides much needed services to the children and families, she also participated in the first Tunica County Domestic & Sexual Violence Initiative. Pastor Hubbard serves on the following committees: Member of the Federal Programs Advisory Committee for Tunica County Schools; 4H Advisory Council Member for Mississippi State University Extension Service; Faith-Based Health & Wellness Ministry; Tunica County Board of Supervisors’ new Trustee Board member for the First Regional Library Board representing Tunica County. In all her stops, Pastor Hubbard’s leadership has always been evident. She is a guest speaker and brings the Word of God to thousands in and around Mississippi and Tennessee. Pastor Hubbard’s communication and negotiation skills are incredible assets as she works within the community with decision making council members and commissioners. She has had the opportunity to travel extensively around the United States of America teaching and preaching the Word of God. Among her many experiences, she has spoken often at Women Conferences where she motivates and empowers all within listening distance. In her role as Pastor, she has provided a life to all that pack the seats on Sunday mornings. She is supported by her members which is obvious by the growth of the ministry both financially and spiritually. She shares her inspiring messages about the importance of education and goal attainment with different groups and charitable organizations. Pastor Hubbard speaks about God’s destiny and purpose for every individual; continually rising above her humble beginnings and with each step, pulling all who are willing to climb the ladder with her. Her unselfish nature is contagious and her love for God’s people is unconditional. |
